Generally, small businessmen don’t have a large workforce and their resources are often limited. Their limited resources restrict them to a few choices. However, they are still able to make use of effective methods of marketing. The abovementioned survey reported that 42% of respondents said that search engine marketing is the most effective marketing strategy. Nearly 37% said that social networking sites are effective marketing platforms. Also, nearly 36% of respondents reported that email marketing is a useful method. Aside from these strategies, there are other marketing methods employed by small business owners.
Darren Waddell, the VP of Marketing and Product Management at MerchantCircle, has observed that traditional advertising and marketing methods are declining and are being superseded by cheaper internet marketing options. Waddell also noted that local businessmen have become interested in online marketing strategies because they can generally measurable results. Internet marketing strategies also cost much less than many traditional advertising options. In addition, they are easier to implement.
Businessmen use various means and platforms, and they eventually know which ones are better. For example, many of them use Facebook more often than Google. What we know now is that seventy percent of local businesses have turned to social media marketing. That is a little more than the number of businesses that use Google (66%).
